It is finally September, which means it’s apple picking season! As we start to escape the summer heat, now is the perfect time to start getting your fresh fruit and spend a lovely day outdoors. Apple picking is one of the most popular fall activities, and there are some great places in the surrounding area to get your fresh apples, donuts, and cider this season.
Baugher’s in Westminster has been family owned since 1904 and is a must-visit place for this fall! Pick your own apples is available Saturdays and Sundays and their Orchard Market is open 9am-5pm every day. With a variety of different apples ready to be picked that changes every weekend, Baugher’s is ready to welcome you to celebrate the start of fall!
Weber’s Cider Mill Farm
A short 20 minutes away from The Fitzgerald is Weber’s in Parkville, which is a great place to go apple picking this fall. Weber’s opens September 19 with the 45th Annual Johnny Appleseed Weekend, a two-day event with an apple sale, live music, and more! The barnyard officially opens September 21 for you to finally get your apple, cider, and donut fix.
Larriland Farm in Woodbine has pick your own apples and has kept this tradition since they opened in 1973. The farm has adopted many new COVID policies to keep you safe during your visit, including requiring masks, having containers for purchase, and hand washing stations at the barn.
In addition to apple picking, each of these locations also offer pumpkin picking beginning in October and have bakeries with all of your favorite homemade apple and pumpkins treats! Larriland also offers fun fall hayrides, and Baugher’s has a petting zoo that is open during Orchard Market hours until October with lambs, goats, turkeys, and more! We hope you’re able to explore a bit of Maryland with these fun fall destinations.
