December 10th, 2019
Attention Fitzgerald residents! We are delighted to announce that our Holiday party will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 6-8pm in the Zelda Lounge. We’ll be enjoying delicious food from Brookside Market and imbibing with a Pomegranate Champagne Punch. Bring your extra canned goods and non-perishables, as we’ll be conducting a food drive during our Holiday party. We hope to see you there!
In the mean time, in the spirit of the season, we wanted to share our favorite Holiday desserts and the best treats in town with you.
Home Made in Maryland
Sally’s Baking Addiction
Marylander Sally McKinney of Sally’s Baking Addiction has an amazing collection of desserts on her blog, but our favorite are perhaps her Chocolate Cherry Blossom Cookies. These pink shortbread cookies get their coloring from Maraschino cherries, making them the perfect festive holiday treat!
Baltimorean Jordan Zelesnick of JZ Eats has a variety of different recipes on her blog, but we think her Heart Beet Valentine’s Day Homemade Brownies also work for a decadent Christmas treat. The Beetroot Powder not only provides a slightly reddish hue, it offers up a lot of great health benefits as well. But, don’t be fooled, these brownies are still as chocolaty and rich as ever. Get the recipe here.
From Your Local Baltimore Baker
If you’re not a master baker like these lovely local ladies, don’t worry! Baltimore has a lot of great bakeries just waiting for you to come in and get some Holiday treats!
Charm City Cakes
If you’re having a holiday party and looking to impress, look no further than Charm City Cakes. They can take pretty much any idea and turn it into a custom cake, or you can take a look at their selection of holiday cakes here.
This bakery is known for its decadent and delicious French-inspired desserts. Their holiday menu features everything from Buche de Noel (dessert logs), to tarts, pastries, cakes, chocolates, macarons, and more! Be sure to check out their holiday menu and order ahead of time.
Aunt Kelly’s Cookies
Have you heard about the cookie everyone’s talking about? Aunt Kelly’s Butter Crunch Cookies hail from a Baltimorean that sought to recreate her favorite childhood cookie. Stop by her Howard St. location or order online to taste the sweet, buttery goodness!
Berger cookies are part of Baltimore’s DNA—stop by Lexington Market and pay a visit to Berger’s Bakery to taste their legendary cookie as fresh as can be. They also sell a variety of other favorites.
Kora Lee’s, a gourmet Dessert Café on Howard St. features everything from cupcakes, to pastries, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, whoopee pies, and more! Stop by to pick up your holiday treats, and stay for lunch!
Wishing you a Sweet Holiday
Whether you bake a custom batch of goodies, or pick something up from a local bakery, we hope you have a very happy Holiday season and hope to see you on the 12th!
