The Charm City Scene: September 20 – September 26

Ever wanted to become a participant in a “living” art installation? Do you like wine and jazz? Are you getting excited for the spookiest holiday of the year? Then check out this week’s Charm City Scene!

First, on Wednesday September 22, School 33 invites you to be a part of Melissa Webb’s “living” art exhibit that is on display until late October this year. Webb’s installation, “The Temporary Nature of Ideas,” is based around fiber materials and lots of fun. Melissa attempts to remove the separation between the art being viewed, the performer and the audience by inviting the viewers to become active participants in her show. The audience members are encouraged to use materials provided and create dynamic pieces alongside Webb. After you are done producing your artistic creation, it becomes part of the exhibition until its conclusion. There are so many possibilities when it comes to experiences that are sure to be had at this unique exhibit!

Our next event is sure to leave you in a state of relaxation that can only come from a day full of great wine and jazz. On Saturday September 25th, the Second Annual Canton Wine & Jazz Festival is taking place featuring the music of The Larry Brown QuartetGail MartenDavid BachThe Players Band and Just Us Three. When you’re not grooving out to the smooth jazz jams, there are so many different varieties of wine to try that your taste buds will be thanking you well into the evening. On top of being a great festival for the adult crowd, this event is kid friendly as well with Eric Energy and the Magic Show providing entertainment along with face painting and a strolling balloon artist! Tickets can be purchased here and include 10 wine tastings. Sounds like an amazing day of fun, friends, jazz and wine to us!

To close out your weekend, why not take a walk, grab a pint and see some ghosts simultaneously? On Saturday September 25th, starting right after the Canton Wine and Jazz Festival at 7:00pm, join other ghost fanatics and lovers of the supernatural on the Fells Point Haunted Pubwalk. The guides at Baltimore Ghost Tours will tell you tantalizing tales of Baltimore’s maritime past, while showing you Fells Point’s most ghostly taverns and pubs. The tour boasts suspense and a good time, but don’t get too comfortable…ghost sightings have happened from where you are seated! All attendees must be 21 and ready to be shaking in their boots by night’s end.
