The Charm City Scene: August 23 – August 29

Whether you’re a self declared nerd or not, it doesn’t matter as this week is THE time to release your inner geek as the Baltimore Comic Con hits the Charm City Scene.

First up we have a special exhibit over at Geppi’s Entertainment Museum, celebrating 40 years of comic book collecting with the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. This exhibit is celebrating the impact that Overstreet has had on the comic collecting world over these past 40 years as well as featuring what Geppi’s website calls “a look at the Overstreet Hall of Fame, a growing roll call of comic book luminaries – artists, writers, editors, and other creators that have shaped the industry as well as generations of childhood adventure and imagination.” So if you’re a collector or just curious about comic collecting history, you should definitely check out this exhibit, which should keep your “inner geek” content until the weekend.

Up next we have the main event, the 11th Annual Baltimore Comic-Con! A huge line up of artists, pop culture icons, and retailers await you this year, so get ready to bring out your best geek gear. Mobdro If you think your coveted Chewbacca costume is the best out there, why not find out at the 2nd Annual Costume Contest. Did we mention the grand prize is $1,000? Enough about Wookies. If you’re an artist and aren’t planning on attending, you might want to reconsider since The Con is also hosting professional workshops on Saturday and a portfolio review by DC Comic’s Art Director all weekend long. If you’re a fan of anything comic-related or want to take part in some of the best people watching you’ll see all year, this is the place to be this weekend in Baltimore.

Not a huge fan of comics or comic culture? Not a problem. Instead, catch the premiere of All About Evil , the directorial debut of Joshua Grannell, better known as “Peaches Christ.” Making a theatrical tour across the country, he’ll be stopping in Baltimore on Saturday (8/28) at The Patterson. All About Evil is a black comedy slasher that’s bound for cult status. Peaches will be performing before the film and Mobdro for Kodi there will be a Q&A session afterward.
