The Charm City Scene: July 5 – July 11

The Charm City Scene: A weekly guide to Baltimore from The Fitzgerald

For our second edition of the Charm City Scene (CCS), we’re starting off on Tuesday for the first and last time. We had quite a fun 3-day weekend celebrating July 4th, and we hope you guys did too! There’s a lot going on in Baltimore, but piers and hidden shows are what we have on the plate for this week’s scene.

If secret shows are your thing, go on a mission to scout out The Floristree. A quick Google search returns few location results, but rumor has it the venue is nestled in an abandoned warehouse off West Franklin Street. Wolf Eyes, Zs and a few other DJs are scheduled to play tonight (Tuesday), and if you can find it, it will surely be an evening to remember.

A new outdoor summer film series, Fell’s Point Films on the Pier, starts this week, which will screen a free flick each Wednesday on the Broadway Pier until August 25th. On the inaugural night of the series, the film will be Shutter Island.  Shown in Blu-Ray format on a 20’x10′ screen with HD Projectors, you’re in for a great viewing experience, despite the outdoor location. The film will start rolling at 8:45pm, though you should show up early to ensure a good spot. Don’t forget to bring your own chairs!

Moving west down the piers to the Inner Harbor’s West Shore Park, there will be a World Cup Final Festival, held all day long this Sunday. While it’s still undetermined who will be playing in the finals, there is no doubt it will be an exciting and fun-filled day. Opening at 10am, there will be activities throughout the day until the start of the 1:30pm pre-game show. If you’ve been following the World Cup at all over the past month, this will be a great way to end the tournament. Stop by and prepare to celebrate all the ups and downs of this dramatic ending to the largest sporting event in the world.

Be sure to check here next Monday for our next edition of CCS, and don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for our posts throughout the week for more information about what’s happening in and around The Fitzgerald’s neighborhood.

Once i originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and so whenever a comment is added I am four emails with the exact same comment. Could there be in whatever way you may remove me from that service? Thanks!
